Drinkable water for more than 200 children in Camerun

Leini (Turin, Italy), 27 April 2017

The Church Anima Universale contributed with a donation of 8,000 Euros to the realisation of a safe water well for the street children in Camerun (Africa).

Safe Water

This work was conceived and realised by the Italian NGO Senzaconfini ONLUS and will provide the indispensable safe water to the mission of the Sisters Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, founded by the Salesian priest Father Luigi Variara.
The Sisters’ mission is located in the very poor suburbs of the capital Yaoundé and provides the poorest people with a free medical centre, and a kindergarten/elementary school attended by more than 200 street children.
This school had recently lacked access to clean water, since the water supplied by the existing well was so dirt that it was impossible to filter it.
Therefore, it was necessary to drill a new, deeper well, with a total cost of 13,000 Euros (including drilling [about 80 meters], piping, immersion pump, and filters).

The new well is already in operation, with great joy of the children who can finally drink at will.

Dearest ramia Osvaldo,

To our thanks we add the gratitude of the Sisters Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, whom —in the extremely poor district of Ekié, Yaoundé— are doing lots of good by working according to Don Bosco’s teachings, most of all with the children and the young people.

I hope so much to be able to send more photographs in the coming days.

Affectionate greetings from my husband Angelo [Dr. Angelo Verga, President of Senzaconfini ONLUS], and from all the members of Senzaconfini, to your entire Community!

Caterina Guarna

Secretary General Senzaconfini ONLUS
